VIP 2
The VIP 2 (Video Images with Parallax) system captures a sequence of digital images from different viewpoints of a scene or object and is the ideal compliment to any holographic stereogram mastering system including Sitech's Lightgate range of hologram and OVD mastering systems. Once captured, the sequence can be used to create a 3D hologram, holographic stereogram, multi-channel hologram or 3D element in a combination hologram. The system is ideal for recording portraits or products.
The system utilises a 1 - 2 meter long high-resolution linear motor rail that is accurate along its entire length to just 1000th mm. This rail translates another high-resolution rotary linear motor stage and digital camera smoothly and at very high speed enabling the recording of portraits or other scenes with the minimum of risk of the subject moving.
The VIP 2 can now utilise any USB controllable commercially available digital SLR camera. The use of such a camera enables holographers to utilise all of the professional features provided by such cameras to record very high-resolution images.
The VIP 2’s software controls all aspects of the camera through the USB port including the automatic downloading of images to the computer’s hard drive. Once images have been downloaded they can automatically be distortion corrected and converted to run as an on screen animation so that the photographer can easily appraise the shoot.

The images are then ready to be used with a Lightgate mastering system or any other stereogram recording system to produce three-dimensional holograms. The VIP 2 system can also be used to produce image sequences for lenticulars and autostereoscopic displays.
The computer provided is now the Sony VIAO F series 3D laptop. This is currently the latest and best 3D laptop in the world. Using its active glasses system and full HD 240 Hz screen it is now possible to view images/portraits in true stereoscopic 3D within seconds of them being shot. This gives an unparallel capability to appraise shots as they are recorded. The computer also comes with a Blu-ray writer.
